Plans for future is a problem that worries not only me, but my friends, classmates, parents and teachers. The reason is that at the age of 17 we have to make a very important choice in our life – the choice of a profession. On the one hand, I’m adult enough to have an opinion of my own about what I’m interested in and what I’m good at. On the other hand, at this age we lack life experience and our desires sometimes don’t coincide with our possibilities . That’s why it’s very important to have somebody to give us a piece of advice . Such people are our parents, teachers and friends.

As for me, I want to be an economist. I like to read books of economics, research articles and analyze them. Nowadays this profession has become one of the most useful, modern and interesting. Also, I want to study economics as I’m very interested in current economic processes both in our country and in other countries. It’s not a secret that our country (Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Kazakhstan) is now through a difficult periods of times. That’s why it’s very important for our country to have efficient economists to raise our economy at a high level.

I hope that I’ll be a good economist. Like many other people I would like to spend a year abroad working as an economist. It would give me an opportunity to borrow the experience and to see the world.

So, I’ll do everything to become a good economist and I’m sure I’ll never regret my decision to follow this career.

Что касается меня, то я хочу быть экономистом. Мне нравится читать книги по экономике, изучать статьи и анализировать их. Сегодня эта профессия стала одной из самых полезных, современных и интересных. Также я хочу изучать экономику, так как я интересуюсь текущими экономическими процессами и в нашей стране, и в других странах. Не секрет, что наша страна (Россия, Украина, Белоруссия, Казахстан) сейчас переживает трудные времена. Вот почему очень важно для нашей страны иметь квалифицированных экономистов, чтобы поднять экономику нашей страны на более высокий уровень.

Я надеюсь, что я буду хорошим экономистом. Как многие другие люди, я хотел бы провести год заграницей, работая экономистом. Это дало бы мне возможность перенять опыт и увидеть мир.

Choosing a Profession
In this world man cannot live without doing a profession. He must have to do some sort of profession to maintain his livelihood. But which professions should he follow?

There are many professions in the world, such as the professions of doctor, engineer, professor, officer, teacher, soldier, clerk, peon, driver, conductor, jailor, collector, printer, publisher, welder, moulder, draftsman, machineman, policeman, milkman, oilman, fisherman, washerman, trader, shop-keeper and so on. It is very difficult for a man to choose the right profession for himself.

Choosing a profession is very difficult, no doubt. Because a man wishes to get a profession that carries high power, fat salary and high quarters with beautiful furniture. But he forgets to consider how far he is fit for this profession. How far he is able to do this work and whether he will like to do the nature of work allied with this profession. So, it is very likely that he may do a wrong choice of profession.

A profession which is right for one man be wrong for another. Because ability and aptitude differ from man to man. If a man takes up a profession for which he is unfit, he leads a life of unhappiness, inefficiency and frustration. Life becomes a burden to him. Suppose a man likes to sit and do clerical works but he joins the executive line only because that carries handsome pay, position and power. Consequently he proves misfit and feels miserable. So, he cannot prosper in his profession.

Choosing a profession, is no doubt important in one"s life. So, one should choose a profession after thinking over the pros and cons of it.

As for me, I made my choice long ago. I want to become a teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature. My choice of this occupation didn"t come as a sudden flash. During all school years literature was my favourite subject. I"ve read a lot of books by Ukrainian and foreign writers. I understand that reading books helps people in self education and in solving different life problems.

I would like to teach my pupils to enjoy reading, to encourage them to learn our national language and literature, which is the source of national culture. It is known that teaching is a very specific and difficult job. It shouldn"t be taken easily. The teacher is a person who is learning as well as teaching all his life.

Most jobs can be done within the usual office hours from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m., but teacher"s work is never done and evenings are usually spent in marking exercise-books and preparing for the next lesson.

It"s not as easy as it may seem at first. But I think that love for children combined with the knowledge I"ll get at the University would be quite enough to succeed in my work.

Окончание школы — это начало самостоятельной жизни для миллионов выпускников. Перед ними открыто много дорог: профучилища и техникумы, институты и университеты. Но нелегко выбрать одну профессию из 2000, существующих в мире. Некоторые ученики следуют советам своих родителей, другие же не могут сделать выбор даже после окончания школы.

Что касается меня, я сделал(а) свой выбор давно. Я хочу стать учителем украинской литературы и языка. Мой выбор этой профессии не был неожиданностью. Все школьные годы моим любимым предметом была литература. Я читал(а) много книг украинских и зарубежных писателей. Я понимаю, что чтение книг помогает людям в самообразовании и в решении разных жизненных проблем.

Мне бы хотелось научить детей получать удовольствие от чтения, помочь им выучить родной язык и литературу, который является источником национальной культуры. Известно, что профессия учителя особенная и трудная. К ней нельзя относиться легкомысленно. Учитель — это человек, который учится сам и учит других всю жизнь.

Большинство работ выполняется в обычные рабочие часы с 9 утра до 5 вечера, но работа учителя никогда не заканчивается, и вечера обычно заняты проверкой тетрадей и подготовкой к следующему уроку.

Это не так легко, как кажется на первый взгляд. Но я думаю, что любовь к детям, соединенная со знаниями, которые я получу в университете, поможет мне преуспеть в работе.

My future profession

A child usually dreams to be a doctor, a teacher, a firefighter or even an astronaut in the future. These professions are very important, so it is wonderful when child’s dream comes true and he or she becomes an expert in the particular field, for example, in medicine.

I think that everyone should work. It may be easy or difficult work, well-paid or low-paid. However, what is even more important is that the work must bring the joy. Of course, the salary is important nowadays but if you are not happy with your job, the salary will mean almost nothing. In this case you should find something else, something that will make you smile. This work even may become just a little addition to the main job.

My dream is to become an interpreter in the future. Why have I chosen this particular profession? The answer is quite simple. I like studying foreign languages and cultures. When I study a new foreign language, a new world seems to be opened to me. I can find something unusual, unique, fascinating or even strange there but it is the wonderful experience.

The profession of an interpreter gives you an opportunity to meet new people from different countries or social groups. It teaches you to make decisions right here and right now. It is the experience that you cannot get even being a translator, for example. This is the main reason why I want to be an interpreter.

I will do my best to become an interpreter in the future because this is the work that can make me happy.

The choice of one’s future profession is a very important step. Quite often, work becomes a significant part of our life and takes most of our time. Many people don’t like what they do to earn money. It makes them tired and depressed. And I want to feel happy every working day, so I am going to choose a profession that is interesting to me.

At the moment I go to school. I am seventeen years old and this is my last year. I’ve been thinking about my future profession for the last months a lot. Now finally it seems that I know what to do. My passion is music and I am going to become a musician.

My parents didn’t approve this decision, because I don’t have any musiceducation. I didn’t go to music school, I took no private music lessons. But in my opinion, it isn’t a problem. Last summer I bought an electric guitar and started to learn to play by myself. There are plenty of video lessons on the Internet. They help me to develop my technique and I see my progress.

At the same time, I started to learn music theory and solfeggio. I downloaded best tutorials from the web and organized my own lessons in the evenings. Usually I spend one or two hours learning music and two or three hours practicing onthe guitar every day. So it’s quite a lot of work to do regularly. But I never get tired, because I enjoy what I do and I appreciate the results.

I am going to enter University of Culture and Arts in my city. There is always a big competition there, but I think my chances are high. I will take a couple of lessons with one of their music teachers. Thus I will make sure that I am ready for the entrance exams. It is still a long way to go before I get ready; I will have to continue my everyday lessons until the end of the schoolyear. The success depends only on me and I am going towork hard towards my goal.

Выбор будущей профессии – очень важный шаг. Зачастую работа становится значительной частью нашей жизни и отнимает большую часть нашего времени. Многим людям не нравится то, что они делают, чтобы заработать деньги. Из-за этого они устают и впадают в депрессию. А я хочу чувствовать себя счастливым каждый рабочий день, поэтому я собираюсь выбрать профессию, которая мне интересна.

Next year my class will graduate from a high school. So the question what I would like to become is on all students" minds. Every job has its own difficulties and interesting moments. No doubt, all professions are very important in life. But it is not an easy thing to choose the right one, the most suitable one, because we must take into consideration too many factors. We shouldn’t forget about our kind of mind and personal taste and, for sure, the requirements of the society and people’s needs.

For me the end of the school is a very serious step in my life, the beginning of an independent life, and the time of more difficult exams. I do want to choose the right road in my life which will help me to be the best in my work and life.

Everybody, each girl and boy, has the opportunity to use the education they received at school in their future studying. Some of them will prefer to work in plants or factories, some of them will take part in building new towns or constructions, others will take care of people or work at school. Men often choose men’s professions such as a police officer, a fireman, an engineer and others. More feminine professions are a nurse, a teacher, an accountant etc.

What about me, I hope I have already made my choice. I would like to become a midwife. My mom is a qualified midwife and a highly experienced nurse. She told me a lot about her work. Even at the age of 10 I decided to follow my mom"s footsteps.
